"Restricted" Online Exhibition

Responding to an Open Call by the recently created Correspondance Collective on the theme of "Restrictions" marking the anniversary of the first lockdown in England, the call asked artists to create miniature works reflecting on the theme. These miniature were to fit in very small compartments of an old press drawers.

I conceived 4 small boxes containing 3 scrolls each. Each scroll is an image where I explore ideas, feelings and emotions around the theme (see them at the end of this post).

The boxes were alocated to specific niches in the drawers:

TRAY - 8

TRAY - 9

You can watch the exhibition launch replay here: https://youtu.be/itxIedr7Mbc

Here below the deployed scrolls (5 x 29cm aprox) contained in each box.

Sub themes that helped me in my exploration.

THE BODY

The Body - Bo x 3 scrolls.

 THE BRAIN

The Brain - Br x 3 scrolls.

THE GUTS

The Guts - Gu x 3 scrolls.

THE HEART

The Heart - He x 3 scrolls.

Thanks to my wife, my father and Dr. Edson Burton,  for their inspiration, advice and support!

Many,

Many,

Thanks!

( I obviously borrowed some well known images for the collages, featuring Pina Bausch and "The Belly of an Architect" ).

(Also features a losely translated pasage from "Juego Trancado" a short story by Alejandro Padrón B. (Senior).
